this Notion space helped Kim launch their new offer without spiraling – how I built a simple, client-friendly portal for a brand designer that they’re now *obsessed* with

the messy starting point

OINOPO STUDIO originally booked a Pick My Brain session (now called Ask the Oracle) to get help building a client portal and workbook for a new offer they were launching. They were mid-creation mode and needed this Notion piece done so they could finally feel like things were coming together. Their words?

I want to finally feel like this particular part of my backend is ready to receive people, and will inspire me to finish up the other aspects of this offer.

what we built + why

We started by talking through their vision — but it quickly became clear that Notion wasn’t the part they needed to be DIYing right now. Between building the program, getting ready to launch, and just being a low spoons babe... it made more sense to hand it off. So they did 😌

Here’s what I built:

  • a clean, intuitive client portal they’re proud to send people to
  • embedded support docs + templates for easy onboarding
  • flexible space that they can now update and expand on their own

The gorgeous new portal space. I forgot to take a picture of the old space because I always forget 😂😂

This is one of the pages in the client portal. I created this workflow so that clients felt supported while using Notion, while limiting Kim’s involvement in managing client expectations.

I also wrote some designers’ notes in addition to the lil SOP I wrote. This is for Kim so they would know how to edit and update their space moving forward.

And of course the workbook we started working on at first! Branded, beautiful, and with navigation buttons at the end to guide the client to the next thing they’re supposed to do.

I also added a button to ping Kim when the client was done so Kim wouldn’t have to stalk their clients. This was one of Kim’s fave bit, making Notion fun, interactive, and let’s Kim focus on their work instead of micromanaging clients.

what changed

You've empowered me so much with Notion I yap about it to my IRL folks all the time and nobody understands what I’m talking about. Meanwhile I’m just like 🥰🥰🥰 I feel so confident working on my spaces now independently!

That part 😭

Kim went from overwhelmed and unsure to:

  • launching a second cohort using the portal we created (with some upgrades I’m sure)
  • building out additional Notion spaces solo
  • feeling confident instead of frozen when opening a blank page

And the best part?

I’m PROUD to onboard clients into the new portal. It flows so well and I love checking it & using it, so I just know my clients are feeling the same (hopefully lol). It’s so simple & streamlined and I love love love how it feels!

want your own Notion space?

I do this for folks who love their work but hate figuring out where the hell to put things in Notion. If your brain wants simple, streamlined, and done, let’s go 👇🏾

say less I need this
